COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TENT, WALL TYPE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This commercial item description covers wall type tents for general purpose use (see figs 1 and 2).
Salient characteristics:
Size: 10 x 12 feet (4 feet wall height) or
14x16 feet (4 feet wall height) as
specified by purchaser.
Fabric. Pre-shrunk cotton army duck material with a water, mildew, and fire resistant finish and with a residual shrinkage of not more than 2 percent .Fabric weight not less than 12.29 ounces per square yard before more than 18.5 ounces per square yard after treatment.
Reinforcement. All stress points of tent reinforced with a second layer of self-material.
Door. Standard overlapping type with tie tapes stitched onto the outside and inside of the door; and with tieback tapes stiched along the edge of the upper front wall.
Peak opening. Peak opening to accommodate the protruding ends of the ridge pole placed on both back and front panels of the tent.
Guy ropes. Manila or sisal guy ropes furnished with each tent. Each rope has line slip mechanism for adjusting at holding tension.
Certification. The contractor shall certify the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered material. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The tents shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed in fiberboard boxes that will assure acceptance by common carrier and provide protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Shipping containers shall be marked as specified in the contract or order.
Note. Purchaser should specify size required. Dimension in figures 1 and 2 are allowed the following tolerances: 12 inches for dimensions 4 feet or greater + 10 percent for dimensions less than 4 feet.
