* 2.4 Order of precedence. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and
the references cited herein, the text of this specification takes precedence. Nothing in this
specification, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has
been obtained.
3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 First article. When specified, (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection
(see 4.2 and 6.2).
3.2 Materials and components. Materials and components shall be as specified herein and in
referenced documents and drawings. Materials not definitely specified shall be of the quality
normally used by the manufacturer provided the complete item complies with all provisions of this
document. It is encouraged that recycled material be used when practical as long as it meets the
requirements of this document.
* 3.2.1 Cloth, Duck, Textured Nylon. The cloth for the body and pockets shall be conform to
class 3 of MIL-C-43734, shade Camouflage green 483.
3.2.2 Tape, textile and webbing, textile, reinforcing nylon. The nylon tape shall conform to type
II, class 2 of MIL-T-5038, shade Camouflage green 483.
3.2.3 Webbing, textile, woven, nylon. The nylon webbing shall conform to type II and type XV
of MIL-W-4088, shade Camouflage green 483. Type II will be 1 inch wide and type XV will be 2
inches wide.
3.2.4 Thread, Nylon. The thread shall conform to type I, class A of V-T-295, and shall be dyed
to match olive drab S-1. Dyed thread shall show fastness to chlorine bleaching equal to or better
than the standard shade sample. If no standard shade sample is available, The thread shall show
good fastness to weathering. Thread sizes shall be as follows:
For all stitching except
Size FF for needle
overedge stitching
and bobbin
For overedge stitching
Size E
3.2.5 Felt. The pressed wool felt shall conform to type I, classification number 9R5, of C-F-206
and shall be mildew resistant treated to conform to type I of MIL-F-2312.
3.2.6 Leather. The leather shall conform to any type, class 1 of KK-L-271, 6 ounce color russet.
Application of a finish to the grain side is not required.
