* 3.2.17.1 Steel wire. The steel wire shall conform to steel numbers 1006 to 1020 in accordance with
ASTM A853, ASTM A818, ASTM A641 or ASTM A809.
* 3.2.17.2 Steel tube. The steel tube shall be seamless, round in accordance with ASTM A513 and
ASTM A519.
* 3.2.17.3 Malleable iron. The malleable iron shall be grade I (35018) Black, ungalvanized or grade
II (32510)- Black, ungalvanized in accordance with ASTM A47. The first three digits of the grade
designations indicate the minimum yield strength ( x 100 p.s.i.). The last two digits indicate the minimum
elongation (percent in 2 inches).
3.2.18 Grommet, metallic. The Nos. 3 and 5 grommets shall conform to type III, class 3 and
No.2 grommets shall conform to type II, class 3 of NASM 16491.
3.2.19 Fasteners, snap. The snap fasteners shall conform to style 2, finish 2, button 24 line size,
size 1 and eyelet size 1 of MIL-F-10884.
3.2.20 Clip, end. The end clips shall conform to type I, class 1 or 2, size 1 inch of
MIL-C-496.
3.2.21 Loops, strap fastener. The strap fastener loops shall conform to type III, style B of
MIL-L-11075.
3.2.22 Snaphook. The snaphooks shall conform to MIL-S-43770/10 or equal.
3.2.23 Pins, tent, metal. When required (see 6.2), the tent pins shall be type I, conforming to MIL-P-
501.
3.2.24 Pole, tent, telescope. When required (see 6.2), the magnesium, adjustable telescopic tent poles
shall conform to MIL-P-1716.
3.2.25 Kit, repair. The repair kit bag shall be fabricated from the material specified in 3.2.1 and of the
design and dimensions shown on Drawing 5-4-580. The snap fastener on the pocket shall be as
specified in 3.2.19. The bag containing the repair kit components, shall be securely tied and placed in
the repair kit pocket of each completed tent.
3.2.25.1 Components, repair. Components for each kit shall consist of the items listed in table I.
