* 6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents should specify the following:
a.
Title, number and date of this specification.
b.
When first article inspection is required, (see 3.1 and 4.3).
c.
When pins and poles are required (see 3.2.25 and 3.2.26).
d.
Which of the following items to be purchased:
1.
Tent with liner and cover, or
2.
Tent with liner,tent pole, tent pins and cover, or
3.
Tent only, or
4.
Tent covers
* 6.3 Standard samples. For access to a standard shade of thread, address the contracting activity
issuing the invitation for bids.
* 6.4 Other components. The following components are required for the erection of the tent:
1 each -- Pole, Tent, Telescopic, adjustable 5 feet to 9 feet, Magnesium
For erection on hard ground, unfrozen
28 each -- Pin, Tent, Aluminum, 9 inches
* 6.5 Seams to be treated. It is recommended that seams which have failed the test specified in 4.5.1
be treated as follows:
a. Failure at roof panel lap seams -- treat all roof panel lap seams.
b. Failure at peak reinforcement -- paint all peak reinforcement stitching.
c. Failure at eave -- paint all stitching at eave and webbing reinforced roof joining seams.
* 6.5.1 Repairs of leaking seams. Applying the textile compound for the repair of leaking seams is as
follows:
a. Stir and dilute a suitable volume of textile compound conforming to type I, class 1 of
TT-P-595 with an equal volume of petroleum solvent (Stoddard solvent or equivalent). Thoroughly stir
the mixture again before use.
b. Prior to application of the compound, the tent must be dry. Special attention must be taken
to ensure adequate ventilation and that proper fire prevention measures are taken since the compound is
flammable.
