3.2.8.1 Sizes. Thread sizes shall be as follows:
For all stitching except zig-zag
- Size F for needle and size
stitching, bartacking and
E for bobbin
stitching indicated by "Z" on
drawings
For zig-zag stitching and
- Size E for needle and bobbin
bartacking
For stitching indicated by "Z" on drawings
- Size F needle, size E for looper.
3.2.9 Lines, tent. The tent lines shall conform to class D of MIL-L-1709 in the following
types:
Type
LII
(Intermediate eave line, corner eave line)
LIII
(Corner line) except that the length shall be 20 feet
LIV
(Door eave line)
3.2.10 Cord, polyester. The cord used for the sock lines, toggle loops and beckets shall be
Camouflage Green 483, 1/8 inch diameter cord conforming to MIL-C-43256.
3.2.11 Cord, cotton. The cord for the footstops and drip cap stiffener shall conform to type I,
class 3, size No. 7 of A-A-55622. The footstops shall be as shown on Drawing 5-4-285.
3.2.12 Toggles.
3.2.12.1 Toggles, wood. The wood toggles of the design and dimensions shown on Drawing
5-4-288, shall be fabricated from uniformly dried, straight-grained lumber and shall not contain more than
15 percent moisture when tested as specified in 4.4.1.1. The toggles shall be free from knots, shakes,
checks, splits, or splintery surface. Any of the following woods may be used:
Hickory
Beech
Pecan
Maple, hard
Red or White Oak
Birch
Rock Elm
Ash
*3.2.12.2. Toggles, metal. The metal toggles shall be of the design and dimensions shown on Drawing 5-
4-286 and shall be fabricated from brass wire conforming to alloy No. 270, half hard temper of ASTM
B134, ASTM B159, ASTM B206. The toggles shall have a black chemical finish.
3.2.13 Slips, tent line. The tent line slips shall conform to type II of MIL-S-1734.
